Metasys MS
The Johnson Controls Metasys MS series is a series of devices designed for applications in Johnson Controls Metasys systems. The MS series includes several NAE or network automation engines. Network automation engines are control devices that are Ethernet-based and that connect Johnson Controls BAS (Building Automation System) networks to IP networks. The MS series NAE devices can monitor and control other devices in a variety of BAS networks. These BAS network devices include HVAC system devices, lighting system devices, security system devices, and fire safety devices. Some MS series network automation engines can handle smoke control applications and energy management applications. The MS series also includes batteries that can be used to protect data in other devices. Several of the MS series network automation engines come with optional internal modems. Many MS series network automation engines support a variety of network trunks, and most of the network automation engines come with a variety of connection ports. The available connection ports include Ethernet ports, USB ports, RS-232C serial ports, and RS-485 ports. The types of ports available and the number of points available on a given MS series network automation engine depend on the exact network automation engine model. Some of the network trunks that are supported by MS series network automation engines can support up to 100 devices, and other network trunks can support up to 255 devices. Many of the MS series network automation engines operate at nominal voltage ratings of 24 Volts AC with North American Class 2 power supplies or with European SELV power supplies.
