IC693CMM321 Ethernet Interface GE Fanuc PLC Programming Proficy Machine Edition Training

Introduction: GE Fanuc 90-30 Troubleshooting Guide

This troubleshooting guide is a simple test of the 90-30 Ethernet module, part number IC693CMM321. In this illustration is a IC693CPU374 processor and high capacity power supply: IC693PWR330.
You can use any size rack. In this illustration is an IC693CHS397, 5-slot rack. And these are the only components in the rack for this illustration.

Step 1: In Proficy Machine Edition, Go to Slot #2 & Select CMM321

So what you’re going to do is go into your Proficy Machine Edition and you’re going to go to slot number two which is where the CMM is located and you’re going to select a CMM321 and then you’re going to go into the settings and set your IP address and subnet mask.
So when you’re setting the IP address, just set an IP address that’s above anything that could be working within your network so that it doesn’t conflict with anything else or so, more importantly, you don’t get a returned ping so that you actually end up testing something else other than your intended CMM321.

Step 2: Download and Run

Now go ahead and download and run that. And once this is done downloading, You’ll be able to turn on the outputs and test the CMM. And here we go.

So, now you are in run mode and you have two ports that you want to test to test.
So the first is the Ethernet, the ten base T, using an Ethernet cable. Go ahead and plug it into a local plug on your network. And what you want to do is, once you’ve plugged that in, you want to wait for the LAN LED to start blinking and once that’s blinking, it’s okay to do the test. If you don’t wait for that to blink, you’re not going to get a response.

Step 3: Ping the Address You’ve Chosen

Now open your command prompt in your laptop or computer and the function that you’re asking to do is ping and then you ask it to ping the address that you’ve chosen. And hit enter. Immediately you should be getting a response if it’s working properly. It’ll say “reply from” and the address that you’ve selected.

Step 4: Check the AAUI Port

Now you want to check the AAUI port so it’s the same information, but it’s going through a different type of port and to do that you are going to be using this AAUI cable.

Now plug the Ethernet into the bottom portion and the AAUI connection underneath of the CMM.
As before, wait for the LAN LED to start blinking. Now for those of you who are not familiar with the command prompt, note that you can give it the same command to hit the same address by just hitting your up arrow key and then hitting enter.
As before you should have an immediate response so you know that this is working properly and perfectly.

Step 5: Additional Steps if Necessary

So if you have a situation where either of these two ports or both of these ports don’t respond immediately or don’t respond at all, then you definitely have a problem with your CMM.
This is something that we can repair here at PDF Supply. We have an exchange program. We have new and remanufactured products. So if that interests you, please see us at pdfsupply.com. Thank you.
