GE / IP FANUC Series 90/30 In Stock
This troubleshooting guide is a test of GE Fanuc IC697CPU781 90-70 processor in a IC697CHS750 5 slot rack which is empt, powered by a IC697PWR711 power supply.
Your processor should be powered up by the power supply and the top LED, the OK LED, on. If your’s is on, that’s a good sign.
If your light is off or if it’s blinking, then you definitely have a problem with your processor and you won’t be able to follow this test. If this is the case, please refer to information and links at the bottom of this page for parts, service and help.
Okay, now that you are powered up, using Proficy Machine Edition, you are going to connect up to the processor. And once you are connected you are going to get yourself into program mode and on the top menu bar hit Target > Online Commands and Clear in the Online Commands sub-menu. Then a Clear Memory window is going to pop up. All you want to do is click Controller Fault Table and I/O Fault Table.
You don’t want to clear anything else because you could risk harming anything that you’re trying to save. Once that’s done you are going to hit the Download and Run button. And the software will start to build what you have which is again just a blank, 5 slot that is blank with a CPU.
What you want to download is Hardware Configuration and Logic. You don’t want to write it into the flash memory or any initial force values so hit OK. The goal here is that you’re trying to get the processor into Run mode and then you can test a couple of the buttons that are on the processor.
So now if that is successful you should have all of your LED’s running and you are going to look again at the OK light at the top, the middle light is the RUN light which is what you’re trying to do here and the bottom light is I/O light or the Input/Output Enabled LED.
These LED’s should all be on at this point. Then you want to test the toggle switch, it’s a three point toggle switch and this is used to switch on and off the RUN mode and I/O. One click down is Input Output disabled (only two top LEDs remain on) another click down is the run disabled (only the top LED remains on). So those both work, the light goes off then turns back on.
Finally you want to test the Memory Protect which uses the key on the switch above in processor. Once you turn this key you should be able to have this LED on. If it is on that’s good and its telling you that the memory protect feature works on the processor. And this completes the test.
If you think you’re having a problem with this processor it is a good idea to let it run over a couple of nights or a weekend if you can and what you’re hoping to see is that the processor stays in RUN mode, that these LED’s stay on and that the software suggests it’s still in RUN mode.
If for any reason it jumps out of RUN mode, it gets kicked out of RUN mode, which it shouldn’t, you want to go to Target and Diagnostics and in your info viewer screen a fault table will pop up and it will tell you exactly why it fell out of RUN mode. Sometimes these messages are easy to read and understand and other times not. If you’re still having trouble and if it does fall out of RUN mode and you can’t figure out what the problem is contact us!
