GE / IP FANUC Series 90/30 In Stock
The AeroVelo team just broke the world record for the fastest human-powered vehicle at the World Human Powered Speed Challenge in Battle Mountain, Nevada.
The team’s bullet-shaped bike hit 85.71 miles per hour, surpassing the previous record of 83.13 miles per hour.
At the event, competitors are given 8 kilometers to generate as much speed as possible before hitting a 200-meter flat section where speeds are measured and recorded.
The bike AeroVelo used is classified as a “speedbike,” which combines weight, aerodynamics, and sheer physical endurance to ultimately go extremely fast.
The bullet-shaped bike requires its rider to lay almost completely horizontal while piloting the vehicle and the fact that it is fully enclosed lends to helping it not only achieve high speeds but maintain them as well.
Unfortunately, no footage of the record-breaking run has been released yet but you can watch another one of the team’s attempts below.
