E-Delicious: The Robot That Can Detect Authentic Thai Food Dishes
The Thai National Innovation Agency (NIA) collaborated with the Ministry of Science and Technology in order to develop a robot capable of detecting authentic Thai food dishes through taste and smell.
The project was launched as a push against a growing number of awful Thai dish imitations across the world from restaurants to hotels.
E-Delicious essentially has electronic “taste buds” capable of processing ingredients from a dish and then providing an ultimatum on the authenticity of the food.
Developer of the robot Dr. Kit Chongsrid says their is merely a “5 to 10 percent error probability.”
The taste-testing robot utilizes an electronic tongue in addition to dozens of sensors to determine whether food is sweet, sour, or salty.
Spain has a similar robot capable of detecting the authenticity of beer ingredients with an incredible 82% accuracy.
