GE / IP FANUC Series 90/30 In Stock
In 1998, Siemens tested the first monitoring system for wind turbines and introduced the service to clients in 2000.
Since then, as usual, Siemens has been continuously improving the technology. With wind energy now in “prime time”, Siemens is building another huge remote monitoring center to help customers more efficiently run and maintain wind farms.
Many companies today have thousands of wind turbines installed, often in remote locations. With three blades on each turbine, that’s a lot of property to keep track of.
What if blades are becoming frozen? Frozen turbine blades turn a productive and profitable wind turbine asset into an unproductive liability. Visual observation of wind turbines is not practical and so new, highly advanced remote diagnostic centers helping manage an ever-growing network of wind turbines worldwide.
Siemens Energy Service newest automated monitoring system for wind turbines is located at its European Wind Service headquarters in Brande, Denmark. The facility is over 15,000 ft.² (1,400 m²) and will be completed by the end of 2014, monitoring 7,500 wind Siemens turbines installed worldwide. The facility is one of a growing number of turbine remote diagnostic service (RDS) centers.
In short, these facilites uses sensors to monitor turbines and solve more than 85% of problems that crop up. Once a problem arises an alarm goes off and the remote team fixes the problem without the need for an on-site crew.
So far, this has led to reduced downtime, reduced visits from on-site cruise, lower costs and a higher average energy output.
