DARPA’s Cheetah 2 Robot Can Hurdle Objects!

Robotics researchers at MIT have developed an incredible robot called the Cheetah 2, capable of hurdling objects.

DARPA is funding the project in hopes of deploying the Cheetah 2 for disaster response within the military sooner rather than later.

In the video below, you can see the robot sprinting at 10 mph and jumping a small hurdle. The ultimate goal of the MIT team is for the robot to be able to eventually reach 30 mph, faster than any human on earth.

DARPA is funding numerous robotics projects at the moment for multiple applications. For example, some robots are designed to bear heavy loads while others like the Cheetah 2 would be more equipped to jumping debris in order to salvage someone or something.
