Soft Robot Trudges Through Fire, Snow, & Gets Run Over By a Car With No Issues

Soft robotics is continuously advancing because of the durability and flexibility of the robots, not to mention their potential applications across many different industries.

A team of researchers from Cornell and Harvard have developed a soft robot capable of surviving a wide variety of conditions capable of demolishing most robots.

The new silicone, four-legged soft robot gets run over by a car, walks through fire, and wades through snow in the video below rather seamlessly.

While the robot is relatively slow, the battery lasts about two hours and is capable of carrying loads upwards of 18 pounds.

If anything, the robot proves the future of soft robotics is bright, especially as it pertains to potentially dangerous situations or exposure to adverse conditions.
