GE / IP FANUC Series 90/30 In Stock
A new restaurant recently opened in Kunshan, China, featuring more than a dozen robots who cook and deliver food to customers, including two hostess robots who will meet you at the door.
The restaurant’s founder Song Yugang told AFP, “My daughter asked me to invent a robot because she doesn’t like doing housework.”
Song’s robots cost approximately $6,500 (40,000 yuan) a piece, which is approximately the same amount a human employee would make annually working for the restaurant.
Song says, “The robots can understand 40 everyday sentences. They can’t get sick or ask for vacation. After charging up for two hours they can work for five hours.”
Rising labor costs in China has encouraged more automation as this new restaurant is the second eatery in China to open featuring a large number of robot employees, the first being a restaurant in the city of Harbin in 2012.
