New Telepresence Robot Utilizes Old Roombas To Get Around…
Telemba is a new robot creation claiming to be the “world’s cheapest telepresence robot.”
The Telemba can be operated remotely by a computer, allowing a user to interact with people and see what the robot sees without being physically present.
However, there is a bit of catch…
The Telemba is more of a combination of two existing products than a new product itself.
It is essentially a robotic kit that allows you to attach your Roomba to a tablet to create a robot, or the Telemba.
Telemba utilizes Google Hangout for video communications and MQTT, a machine-to-machine connectivity protocol, in order for the robot to navigate firewalls and establish a server link for robot to operate under.
Essentially, if you have an old Roomba and Android tablet you’re not using, you are merely steps away from assembling Telemba.
