GE / IP FANUC Series 90/30 In Stock
According to researchers Peter C. Evans and Marco Annunziata of GE, we are now in the third major wave of technological revolution since the 18th century which they describe as the “Industrial Internet Revolution.” The other two major waves of technological innovation were the Industrial Revolution and the Internet Revolution. The key elements of the Industrial Internet include: intelligent machines, advanced analytics and connecting people to these systems.
In a nutshell the Industrial Internet will connect the world’s machines, facilities, fleets and networks using sensors and software applications. This will be combined with powerful analytics, predictive algorithms and automation. Lastly, people working anywhere will use these new tools to design and create more “intelligent” operations, maintenance, service and safety.
The following graphic shows the value to a number of major industries that is estimated if the full power of the Industrial Internet is realized.
GE has developed a leading suite of tools called Proficy Manufacturing Software which it continually upgrades and improves to support the needs of a rapidly developing Industrial Internet so that manufacturers can transform operations and take advantage of new capabilities.
The platform is a proven system for enabling more stable, manufacturing, harmony in supply chain management, and improving innovation in plants.
Driving the Internet of Things is the explosion in data coming from today’s connected and networked machines. “Big data” collection will help companies improve products and the bottom line through shorter lead times, improved production performance and superior operational efficiency.
