Absolut Vodka Turns To ABB Control Automation… Cheaper Alcohol?
Vodka lovers around the world will be happy to know that they could possibly see a decrease in prices as Absolut Vodka recently introduced ABB control automation to their large-scale distilleries.
Absolut is one of many companies transitioning away from manual labor and instituting automated control systems in their assembly lines.

Absolut believes that this move with ABB automation will allow them to continue providing customers with high quality products while maintaining their reputation for taste and quality–if of course you enjoy the taste of vodka.
ABB automation uses a System 800xA that enables Absolut to monitor and evaluate temperatures and product deviations that could alter the fermentation of the autumn wheat grains.
Without automation systems, if something were to go wrong, the entire batch of vodka could be ruined and would have to be disposed of. With the automated system, when problems arise, the system will alert controllers and the plant operators can quickly remedy the situation.
In addition to reducing waste and increasing data trend collection, the new system is easy to use and reduces the dependence on manual labor.
The number of quality control analysts is reduced as the new automated system can easily collect data to be analyzed by a single operator. This new system was installed in the Nobbelov distillery just outside of Ahus, Sweden and took only five days to install before the plant was up and running again at full capacity.
