GE / IP FANUC Series 90/30 In Stock
A project in its early stages called M-Blocks could revolutionize construction in the future.
Essentially remote-controlled robotic cubes with magnetic edges and spinning reaction wheels, M-Blocks climb around and cling to each other.
Each block utilizes a reaction wheel installed on the inside of the cube, also known as a flywheel, which can churn out upwards of 20,000 revolutions per minute and is responsible for the “jumping” of the blocks.
When the wheel stops within a cube, it is then thrown into the air, using high RPMs for complex jumps and low RPMs for subtle navigation.
If this technology can continue to advance, M-blocks could be used for a whole slew of applications.
Self-assembling buildings, bridges, and other structures would be absolutely amazing! Not to mention, rebuilding areas that have undergone natural disasters such as a tsunami or earthquake.
