SoftBank’s Humanoid Robots Will Be Sold In U.S. Stores By Summer 2015
Softbank Corp. has announced the company will begin selling its humanoid robots named “Pepper” at United States-based Sprint Corp. stores by the summer of 2015.
The company has yet to set a U.S. price for Pepper, but the robot will go on sale in Japan in February for 198,000 yen ($1,900).
Fumihide Tomizawa, chief executive officer of SoftBank Robotics recently said, “We will sell Pepper in the United States within a year after gathering information in Japan. I won’t be surprised if Pepper sales will be half to business and half to consumers.”
Pepper was originally designed for families and children, however a growing demand from finance, food service, and education companies have SoftRobotics changing the company’s target market.
SoftBank is making a strong effort to push the company’s humanoid robots beyond factory floors, and after 300 to 400 inquiries from companies, SoftBank literally might be in business!
