The Omron F3S-A161-U device is a safety light curtain. It belongs to Omron’s F3S series of safety light curtains. The number of optical axes on the F3S-A161-U safety light curtain is 16. The protection height rating is 150 millimeters, and the optical axis pitch is 10 millimeters. The optical resolution is non-transparent and it is 15 millimeters in diameter. The detection distance can range from 0.2 to 5.0 meters. The maximum time required for ON to OFF transition is 20 milliseconds. The maximum time required for OFF to ON transition is 55 milliseconds with a stable light. The F3S-A161-U safety light curtain requires 24 Volts DC of supply voltage and it operates with 200 milliamps maximum current consumption. The light source on the curtain is an infrared LED that emits its light at a 860-nanometer wavelength. The effective aperture angle of the receiver and emitter is within +/-2.5 degrees at a minimum distance of 3 meters. The control outputs on the curtain consist of 2 PNP transistor outputs that operate with 300 milliamps of maximum load current and 2 Volts of maximum residual voltage. The curtain supports a mutual interference interrupting function where a split light emitting system uses a synchronization line connection. Muting function is not available on the curtain. Output short protection is available. The ambient temperature during operation must be between -10 and 55 degrees Celsius. In storage, the temperature must be between -30 and 70 degrees Celsius. During operation, the relative humidity level must be kept between 35 and 85%. In storage, the humidity level must be between 35 and 95%. The insulation resistance rating is 20 Megaohns at 500 Volts DC.
