The Omron CV500-SLK21 SYSMAC link unit can be used to integrate or link devices in programmable controllers. The CV500-SLK21 SYSMAC link unit is designed to meet the needs of medium-sized networks by providing a number of tools for facilitating effective data sharing and network management. The CV500-SLK21 uses a token ring communication mechanism that employs Manchester encoding and baseband transmission for communication. The device can handle up to 62 nodes at once. It can also support 1 km of distance between nodes. It operates with a data transmission rate of 2 Mbps and uses a 5C-2V coaxial cable. It supports several link capabilities, including data link and data read/write services and supports messages that are up to 542 bytes in length (not including the header). The CV500-SLK21 has an impressive data link word capacity because it can store up to 2966 words in its DM and Link areas combined. It can support up to 2 incoming messages and 1 outgoing message with its buffer feature. The CV500-SLK21 also has a watchdog timer, an error detection via CRC-CCITT option (X16 + X12 + X5 + 1), self-diagnostics (including internode echo tests), a failed node bypass option (only for optical systems), and an error log as part of its RAS (Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability) features. The CV500-SLK21 SYSMAC link unit supports streamlined communication and control across various nodes in a medium-sized network. On its front panel, the CV500-SLK21 link unit has LED indicators, unit number switches, node address switches, and a coaxial cable connector. It has a CPU bus connector on its back panel.
