The Omron CV500-MC421 is a motor control unit. It is designed to control the position of Omron servo motors. The CV500-MC421 unit can control a maximum of 4 axes for circular, linear, or helical interpolation. Operators can use the G language to control the CV500-MC421 control unit. To run a program, the operators can designate a program number and simply give the run command from the ladder program. The CV500-MC421 control unit requires a 24 Volts DC external power supply. The backplane of the unit provides it with 5 Volts DC power. The permitted tolerance range for the external power supply is 21.6 to 26.4 Volts DC. The permitted tolerance range for the backplane power supply is 4.75 to 5.25 Volts DC. The CV500-MC421 motor control unit draws 50 milliamps or less from the external 24 Volts DC supply. The maximum current available from the backplane is 1 Amp. A battery is installed on the control unit and its service life is approximately 5 years at 25 degrees Celsius. At higher temperatures, the service life of the battery is reduced. The weight of the CV500-MC421 motor control unit is 600 grams. The external dimensions of the unit are 250 x 34.5 x 93 millimeters. It occupies one slot. The number of I/O words that the CV500-MC421 unit can handle is 125. It supports semi-closed loop control with an incremental or absolute encoder. The CV500-MC421 control unit supports linear interpolation for 4 axes, circular interpolation for 2 axes on a plane and helical interpolation on one plane and one axis. A teaching box connects to the CV500-MC421 unit through a RS-422 interface that supports a 9600 bps data rate.
