The CV500-BI042 backplane is an Omron expansion backplane. It can be used in certain types of Omron PLC systems. The CV500-BI042 expansion backplane is an expansion I/O type of expansion backplane because it can host additional I/O interfaces for an Omron PLC. Additional I/O interfaces will allow the PLC to connect to more devices than a standard PLC system, and it will allow the PLC to handle applications that are not possible with a standard PLC system. The CV500-BI042 expansion backplane can host units from Omron’s CV series because it is a CV or CV500 series device, but it cannot host units from Omron’s C series. This backplane is 236 millimeters wide and 221 millimeters long. The CV500-BI042 expansion backplane is designed to be connected to the CPU rack in a PLC system, and 1 CPU rack can support connections with up to 7 expansion backplanes. The connecting cable for the CV500-BI042 backplane should not be more than 50 meters long. If the CV500-BI042 expansion backplane is the last backplane in a system, it needs a termination resistance unit to be installed on it. This backplane can also support a power supply unit for the I/O interfaces that it hosts. The CV500-BI042 expansion backplane is durable. It hosts all of its compatible devices securely, and it can be used safely in a wide range of standard industrial environments that are not subject to extreme temperatures or large quantities of hazardous materials or substances. The CV500-BI042 expansion backplane makes it possible for PLCs to directly control manufacturing processes in many different applications.
