The Omron CJ1W-SCU21-V1 board or unit is a serial communications board or unit. This serial communications board is a member of the Omron CJ series and it was designed to operate with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) from the Omron CJ series. When the CJ1W-SCU21-V1 board is connected to a CJ series PLC, it allows the PLC to support a higher number of serial ports than usual. The PLC can use these serial ports for serial communications with other devices and for hosting other types of serial connections to other devices. The CJ1W-SCU21-V1 board comes with 2 serial ports which are both RS-232C ports. The CJ1W-SCU21-V1 board’s RS-232C ports can connect the PLC to host computers, PTs or programmable terminals, a variety of general-purpose external devices, and a variety of programming devices. The CJ1W-SCU21-V1 board is not compatible with programming consoles, however. It supports a variety of protocols through its ports. The CJ1W-SCU21-V1 board can be mounted in any available space on a CPU rack when it is connected to a PLC, and up to 16 boards can be mounted on the same CPU rack. The CJ1W-SCU21-V1 board is a CPU Bus unit because it works with the CPU of the PLC that is connected to. It has a “Simple Backup Function” for backing up Protocol Macro data. This backed up data can be restored or compared after it is saved. The CJ1W-SCU21-V1 board requires a 5V power supply to operate. The maximum weight of the CJ1W-SCU21-V1 serial communication board is 110 grams. It supports several protocols and baud rates.
