The Omron C500-RM201 module is a remote I/O master module that was designed to be used in Omron remote I/O programmable controller systems in industrial environments. The C500-RM201 remote I/O master module can be used to build a programmable controller system that is spread out over a much longer distance than is possible with standard programmable controller systems. This master module makes it possible for the programmable controller’s CPU to control slave devices that are located several meters away, or even several kilometers away. Multiple master modules like the C500-RM201 module can be used in the same programmable controller, but every remote I/O system needs at least 1 master module to function. The remote I/O system that the C500-RM201 master module is used in is designed to operate with minimal amounts of electrical noise. The C500-RM201 remote I/O master module is designed to consume 300 milliamps of maximum power when it operates at 5 Volts DC. Its maximum weight is only 500 grams. This module also supports several diagnostics functions for the remote I/O system. These diagnostics functions include transmission error checking, transmission line short checking, BCC verification, reversed transmission verification, and CPU error monitoring. The C500-RM201 master module can be used in basic remote I/O systems where it is the only master module, or it can be used more complex remote I/O systems with up to 4 C500-RM201 master modules or up to 8 C500-RM201 master modules. It can also be used in a variety of combined remote I/O systems with components from different series.
