Features of MR-J4 Amplifiers
The MR-J4 servo amplifier series offers the following features.
- Communication Interfaces:
The MR-J4 series of products supports a vast array of communication interfaces. These interfaces include the Serial RS-422, USB, SSCNET III, CC-Link IE-Field, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, and PROFINET interfaces.
CC-Link IE Field Network Basic enables quicker network integration of Ethernet devices as it has a software-based cyclic communications stack and does not require a separate ASIC, lowering implementation costs for device partners. This All-in-One Network can manage simultaneously multiple controls such as distributed, input/output, and motion control. The CC-Link IE Field Network creates the ideal network by connecting field devices like servo amplifiers, programmable controllers, input /output modules, high-speed counter modules, inverters, and LCDs/displays.
SSCNET III/H offers efficient central control with three times the communication speed of conventional communication, synchronous communication for printing and food processing industries requiring deterministic control, and smooth control with a cycle time of 0.222 milliseconds, improved Noise Tolerance by Optical Communication, and long-distance wiring up to 3200 meters per system.
- Safety Function (STO):
The Safe Torque Off feature is supported by the MR-J4 servo amplifier series. STO is a stop function that is used to turn off energy to motors that produce torque. The power output from the servo amplifier to the servo motor is electrically switched off by the servo amplifier. This safety function offers controlled stop according to IEC 60204-1 stop category 0 and avoids sudden start-up.

- Advanced Servo Gain Adjustment Function:
These servo amplifiers offer the following advanced servo gain adjustment functions.
The advanced one-touch tuning function allows operators to choose the servo gains for the smooth operation of the motor. These servo gains in these amplifiers are the following:
- Advanced Vibration Suppression Control II: It effectively suppresses residual vibration with a relatively low frequency of 100 hertz or less generated in a motion system, allowing for a shorter settling period.
- Robust Filter Function: It allows exceptional responsiveness and stability without the need for adjustments. With conventional control in high-inertia systems with belts and gears, like printing and packing machines, obtaining high responsiveness and stability is challenging. However, the robust filter progressively minimizes torque variation over a wide frequency range and provides more stability than the previous generation.
- Expanded Machine Resonance Suppression Filter: This advanced filter increases the relevant frequency range from 100 - 4500 hertz to 10 - 4500 hertz. Furthermore, the number of concurrently applicable filters is enhanced from two to five, boosting a machine's vibration suppression capability.
- Lost Motion Compensation Function: This function reduces the quadrant protrusion produced by friction and torsion during reverse operations of a servo motor, which increases the circular path's accuracy in trajectory control used in the XY table, etc.
- Super Trace Control (STC): This function eliminates position variation during constant-velocity operation, as well as continuous acceleration/deceleration, and increases trajectory accuracy in high-rigidity machines.
Note: The lost motion compensation function and super trace control are not supported by the MR-J4W-B product line.
-
Miscellaneous Functions:
- Tightening and Press-Fit Control
- Description: This function smoothly transitions from position/speed control mode to torque control mode without a halt or a rapid change in speed and torque, reducing machine load. This function is ideally suited for applications like tightening and press-fit control, as well as cap/screw tightening and so on.
- Servo Amplifiers: MR-J4-B; MR-J4W2-B; MR-J4W3-B
- Master/Slave Operation Function
- Description: Through SSCNET III/H, this function allows for master axis torque transmission to the slave axes while the slave axes and master axes are controlled with the same torque. This eliminates the need for any additional wiring.
- Servo Amplifiers: MR-J4-B
- Scale Measurement Function
- Description: This function allows for the transmission of position information to the drive unit (controller) of the servo motor through the servo amplifier, resulting in less wiring.

Eco-Friendly Features:
These servo amplifiers are eco-friendly because of the following:
- For controlling 2 or 3 servo motors, there are 2-axis and 3-axis servo amplifiers available. These servo amplifiers allow for more affordable, energy-efficient, compact devices.
- 3-axis type servo amplifiers save space.
- The main and control circuit power, auxiliary devices, control signal wire, and more, are connected to the three axes of a 3-axis servo amplifier using the same connectors. As a result, there are much fewer wirings and equipment.
- The regenerative power of one axis is utilized to drive other axes when numerous servo amplifiers and drive units are linked to the MR-CV power regeneration converter unit through a common DC bus connection, helping to conserve energy. The MR-CV power regeneration converter unit contains a power regeneration mechanism that feeds the recovered energy back into the power source, allowing for further energy savings.
