The FX2N-4AD function block is a special function block that was manufactured by Mitsubishi for applications with Mitsubishi PLCs or programmable controllers. This special function block can perform A/D conversions for a PLC because it has 4 inputs that receive analog signals and convert them into digital signals. The FX2N-4AD function block is a lightweight and compact device that weighs about 0.66 pounds. It has a built-in slot for DIN Rail mounting. The FX2N-4AD function block is compatible with several different Mitsubishi PLCs, and different PLCs can host different numbers of function blocks. Some PLCs can host up to 4 FX2N-4AD function blocks, but other PLCs can host up to 8 FX2N-4AD function blocks. Some PLCs require the FX2N-4AD function block to be connected to an additional peripheral device so that it can be connected directly to the main unit. The FX2N-4AD function block’s analog inputs can support different preset options and different ratings. With the Preset 0 option, the function block’s inputs can operate at -10 to +10 Volts. With the Preset 1 option, the FX2N-4AD function block’s inputs can operate at 4 to 20 milliamps, and with the Preset 2 option, the inputs can operate at -20 to +20 milliamps. The FX2N-4AD function block should be checked before it is installed and occasionally checked for errors to prevent malfunctioning or component damage. This special function block can support basic programs and programs that include gain and offset. Its general specifications are the same as those of the PLCs that it is used with. The FX2N-4AD function block has a dielectric withstand voltage rating of 500V AC for 1 minute.
