Mitsubishi's FX2N-422-BD interface module is a connection board that adds RS422 support to their FX2N Series of programmable controllers. As a port, it facilitates the usage of external devices for the purposes of programming and monitoring. The 422BD board extends the FX2N controller's connectivity options, letting you hook up two DU Series devices or a single DU Series device and a development tool. Note that only one development environment may be linked at any given time. The standardized RS422 interface provided by the 422BD board is both practical and easy to use. A MINI DIN 8-pin connector is included for use with other devices. A half-duplex system is used for communication, which permits data to be sent in both ways but not simultaneously. The programmable controller and peripherals are kept in constant contact by means of a programming protocol implemented on the board. Isolation is not provided by the 422BD. Hence there is no physical separation of electrical signals between the controller and attached devices. The 422BD board has technical requirements of a 5V DC power supply and a current usage of 60mA. The programmable controller itself is the source of power, requiring no less than 5V DC and no more than 290mA. The longest transfer distance supported by the board is 50 meters, allowing for stable connection even at great distances. Since the 422BD and the FX2N-485-BD boards fulfill separate communication needs, using both at once is not possible. By connecting the FX2N Series programmable controllers to external devices for the purposes of programming and monitoring, the FX2N-422-BD communication board provides a flexible and efficient solution for RS422 communication.
