Mitsubishi Electric's FX2N-232IF RS-232C communication block is a special function block or module that allows a compatible programmable controller to connect to external devices with an RS-232C type of connection. Setting up RS-232C serial connections in a programmable controller is simple with this module. Its 9-pin D-Sub male connector and support for the RS-232C protocol provide for simple, standard, and reliable connections. The FX2N-232IF supports different data transmission speeds or baud rates, including 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, and 19200 baud. It uses a photo-coupler option for isolation, which increases security and prevents power surges. The FX2N-232IF module has an isolation capability between the external terminals and the ground terminal of up to 500V AC for 1 minute. It operates with 5V DC and 40mA from an internal power source provided by the programmable controller and may operate with an external power supply that provides 24V DC, +/-10% and 80mA. The module's status may be easily monitored through its LED indicators. The FX2N-232IF module is backwards-compatible with the FX2N, FX3U, and FXUC family of programmable controllers from Mitsubishi Electric. Eight input/output (I/O) pins on the programmable controller extension bus are taken up by this device. The FX2N-232IF module's main purpose is to ensure smooth and efficient communication via a full-duplex asynchronous method, and it is often used in industrial automation and control system applications that require stable and standardized serial communication connections. The FX2N-232IF function block meets the CE EMC, KC, ABS, DNV, LR, GL, BV, and RINA standards. Its maximum transmission distance is 15 meters.
