This base unit is an essential part of a complete MELSEC-A automation system because it serves as the mounting base for several of the other MELSEC-A automation system components. The A38B base features several slots that can host different devices. It is easy to install compatible devices in the A38B base’s slots, and these slots will hold the installed devices securely in place during operation. The A38B base unit is flexible because it can support a variety of slot configurations and it can be used in a variety of applications. A complete MELSEC-A system includes at least 1 base unit like the A38B base unit, and it includes several other devices such as servo motors, CPUs, function blocks, and other accessories such as input and output modules. The A38B base unit can tolerate maximum ambient temperatures of 50 degrees Celsius in operation and 75 degrees Celsius in storage. It should not be used or stored in an environment with a corrosive atmosphere. The A38B base unit can also tolerate about 90% maximum relative humidity without condensation in both operation and storage. The A38B base can be used in MELSEC-A systems that include different types of CPUs for different applications. This base is frequently used in systems that handle manufacturing applications. It can be installed and used at a maximum altitude of about 2000 meters above sea level. The A38B base unit is designed to be stable and durable.
