The Mitsubishi A1S64AD module is an analog-to-digital converter module. It converts analog input signals (either voltage or current) to a 16-bit digital value. The digital value is sent to the CPU unit of a Mitsubishi MELSEC-A programmable controller. The module has four input channels. Each channel can accept either voltage values ranging from -10 to 0 to +10 Volts DC or current values ranging from -20 to 0 to +20 milliamps. Operators can configure each input channel individually for current or voltage input. The module supports resolutions of up to 0.83 mV for voltage input or 3.33 microamps for current input. The A1S64AD module can be configured to allow an offset/gain adjustment without using the offset/gain knobs. Multiple ADC modules like the A1S64AD module can be used with a CPU module. Operators can mount the module in any slot on the base unit. The operating environment for the A1S64AD must be free of corrosive gases and dust. Mitsubishi has the designed the module for self-cooling, and its operating temperature range is 0 to 50 degrees Celsius. The maximum conversion speed for a channel is 20 milliseconds. The absolute maximum voltage output is +/-15 Volts and the maximum current output rating is +/-30 milliamps. Photocoupler isolation is provided between the input terminals and power supply. Isolation is not provided between the input channels. The module occupies 32 special I/O points. A 20-point terminal block is available for external connections. Mitsubishi recommends using 0.75 to 1.5 mm2 wire size for the connections. The internal current consumption rating of the A1S64AD converter module is 0.4 Amps at 5 Volts DC. Its external dimensional are 130 x 34.5 x 93.6 millimeters.
