The Johnson Controls MS-NAE5510-1 network automation engine is a supervisory device that is Ethernet-based and web-enabled. The MS-NAE5510-1 can support 2 N2 or 2 BACnet MS/TP (RS-485) trunks at a time, or it can support a combination of one N2 trunk and one BACnet MS/TP trunk at a time. This flexibility allows users to use the MS-NAE5510-1 network automation engine to monitor and control networks of building automation devices. The unit is housed in a durable plastic housing with an internal metal shield and an IP20 protection rating. The MS-NAE5510-1 network automation engine comes with several network interfaces and serial interfaces. These interfaces include 2 RS-232-C ports for serial communication, 2 USB Serial ports for data transfers, 2 optically-isolated RS-485 ports for additional connectivity, and one Ethernet port for network integration. It can operate with a nominal voltage rating of 24 Volts AC. This network engine can be used in applications in commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and residential complexes. It serves as a central hub for managing and controlling different systems, such as HVAC systems, lighting systems, and security systems. The MS-NAE5510-1 network automation engine enhances operational efficiency between the different devices in these systems. It has 512 MB of flash memory for storing its operating system, its configuration data, and its operations data. The flash memory can also be used to backup the operating system and the configuration and operations data. The MS-NAE5510-1 network automation engine also has 256 MB of synchronous DRAM that operates as dynamic memory for some of the operations data.
