The Johnson Controls ED-A2040-21 actuator is an electric damper actuator or motor actuator from the METASYS series. It is a vital component in industrial controllers, most notably in heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. The ED-A2040-21 actuator can adjust a damper in a VAV or variable air volume control device to control the volume of airflow in an HVAC system. Its rotation time rating is 2 minutes, and it comes with a 0.5-inch coupler. The ED-A2040-21 actuator can be used to replace an old actuator in a VAV device because these actuators cannot be repaired in the field. The ED-A2040-21 actuator supports incremental or 3-wire control. It also supports adjustable rotation settings, a magnetic clutch, and a direct shaft mounting option. The direct shaft mounting option makes the ED-A2040-21 actuator easy to install. The ED-A2040-21 actuator operates at a nominal voltage rating of 24 Volts AC and within a voltage range of 20 to 30 Volts AC at 50/60 Hertz. This actuator makes its electrical connections with spade terminals. It weighs about 1.5 pounds without an optional switch kit. The ED-A2040-21 actuator can operate at 35 to 125 degrees Fahrenheit or 2 to 52 degrees Celsius with 90% maximum non-condensing relative humidity. It can be stored at -20 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit or -29 to 66 degrees Celsius with 90% maximum non-condensing relative humidity. The ED-A2040-21 electric damper actuator has an IP20-rated enclosure. Its running torque rating is 4 Nm, its minimum breakaway torque rating is 4 Nm, and its minimum stall torque rating is 4 Nm.
