Product Description

Part of the VersaMax family of components, the IC200MDL744 is an output module produced by GE Intelligent Platforms.
This output module has two groups of 16 discrete output points. Each output point can be one of two types: negative logic type or sinking type. These output points are responsible for load switching to the negative side of the power supply and receiving load current. Output modules such as the IC200MDL744 will require a carrier base from the IC200CHS series to function. Each output point corresponds to an LED status indicator, which are dependent on the backplane power supply but unaffected by the loads.

In addition to the standard backplane power source, an extra power supply will be necessary for switching loads. The IC200MDL744 has a 5-volt backplane current consumption of 140 milliamps. This module has two modes of operation: transistor-transistor logic mode (TTL) and voltage direct current mode (VDC). Nominal output voltage in both modes is 5 volts DC in TTL mode and 12/24 volts DC in VDC mode.

This device also supports “hot swapping,” which is the removal or insertion of a component without disconnecting the power source; however, if done improperly, both the IC200MDL744 and other backplane modules will be adversely affected.

While the IC200MDL744 does not have individual channel or point isolation, it does support group to group isolation—continuous isolation at 250 volts alternating current (AC) and one minute of isolation at 1500 volts AC. Internal fuses and other protection systems are not included with this module. Thermal derating is supported in specific circumstances such as voltage, environment temperature, and physical orientation of the module. These conditions dictate how many output points can be active at the same time.
