Product Description

Manufactured by GE Automation and Controls, the IC200MDL730 is a VersaMax series discrete output module. This device provides a single group of eight output points, which can be positive logic or sourcing types. The output points on this module are responsible for switching loads to the power supply’s positive side, thereby providing electrical current to all loads.

In addition to the standard backplane power supply, this module will require an external direct current power source to enable output load switching. The backplane power source must be stable for a minimum of one second before this device can accept field power. If field power is applied before the backplane is stable, a false output point fault is likely to occur. The external power source is required to supply a sufficient amount of field power to this product in the event that a short circuit is detected. For further external power supply requirements, see the product documentation.

The IC200MDL730 provides fault detection diagnostics and can determine if an overload or short circuit has occurred. Each output point on this module has the following protection mechanisms: Electronic Short Circuit Protection (ESCP) and overcurrent protection; however, channel to channel isolation is not supported.

Each output point is capable of handling up to 2 amperes of current when operating at 30 volts direct current, and the entire module is capable of driving a maximum of 8 amperes. The amount of current consumed from the 5-volt backplane is 50 milliamps. The output voltage for this module is anywhere from 17.5 to 30 volts of direct current. The nominal output voltage is 24 volts of direct current, and a maximum output voltage drop of 0.5 volts is acceptable.
