IC200MDD851 is a VersaMax discrete input/output module. This module provides two groups of eight discrete outputs totaling 16 outputs. The inputs from each group can either be positive or negative logic. Positive inputs receive current from input devices and return on the common. Negative logic inputs receive current from the common and return to the input device. This offers versatility in functionality. All input devices are connected between the common terminals and the input terminals. If compatibility with TTL devices if needed, the negative logic attachment should be used. The outputs for the IC200MDD851 are sourcing or positive type outputs that switch loads to the positive DC supply, supplying current to the loads.
When connecting the module, power comes from the backplane with output loads powered by an external source. The CPU or NIU is responsible for intelligent processing for this module with four bits of discrete input data while receiving eight bits of discrete output data. The module is equipped with LED indicators that show on/off states at the input and output sources. However, backplane power must be working for the status to be shown. The output LEDs are dependent on field power but remain independent of load conditions. Additionally, the green power LED comes on when the field power is applied to the module. This makes finding any disruption in power to different areas a bit easier within the module.
Prior to installing the IC200MDD851, make sure to check all components completely to confirm no damage is present. Installing a damaged module could affect overall performance. Users should also note that when wiring outputs to inductive loads, an external suppression of circuits should be used. If hot insertion is completed improperly, the operation of other modules on the backplane can be disrupted or damaged.
