The GE Fanuc Series 90-70 IC697VAL348 Digital-to-Analog Converter Board is an electronic converter that is designed to take digital inputs and transform them into analog output signals which can be employed in different applications according to the users’ needs. The signal resulting from this conversion is a perfectly shaped sinusoidal waveform, with a voltage range from -10 Volts AC to +10 Volts AC, and an output current rating of approximately 5 milliamps. The GE Fanuc IC697VAL348 Digital-to-Analog Converter Board features several programmable update modes, such as the immediate DAC update mode, the delayed DAC update mode, or the test mode. The digital to analog conversion can be started in 2 modes: the program mode or the external mode. The address setting is done through a pair of DIP switches.
The GE Fanuc IC697VAL348 Digital-to-Analog Converter Board has been designed to work at an operating temperature range between -25 and +70 degrees Celsius (-13 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit). If it is installed in an industrial environment with lower or higher temperatures, the manufacturer strongly recommends the installation of a climate control system or a forced ventilation system with an air filter in order to prevent external debris or dust particles from penetrating the module's protective cover. Overcurrent and short circuit protection devices should also be added and they must have the right ratings and sizes. The GE Fanuc IC697VAL348 Digital-to-Analog Converter Board offers a digital-to-analog Integrated Circuit (IC) for each channel. Different circuits may be fed from each of the DAC output signals because each channel can be multiplexed according to the users’ needs.
The IC697VAL348 module is an 8-channel analog I/O module manufactured by GE Fanuc. It has a resolution of 16 bits. It runs with a voltage rating of ± 10 Volts. It has a current rating of 5 milliamps. It can be mounted by using a DIN rail mounting base. The module is used for digital to analog conversion with offset binary and two's complement words features. This digital to analog converter board comes with 8 channels. It comes with double buffered data latches. The front side of the module comes with a fail LED that illuminates in red during device or component failure situations. The IC697VAL348 module comes with a reliable DIN type output connector and it comes with multiplexed programmable outputs. The module features jumper synchronized update control and it has a euro card form factor.
The IC697VAL348 input module offers a fast settling time of 10 uS maximum. During the module installation process, the system should be properly grounded to avoid shock hazards. The chassis and the cabinet should be well earthed. The installation environment should be free from airborne contaminants and traces of gas or fumes. The IC697VAL348 module is equipped with 2 address selection DIP switches. Each switch represents an address bit. If the switch is in the on position, the address bit is compared to logic zero. The memory is mapped onto the I/O address space. The I/O module board is configured with factory binary coding. It is equipped with two 96-pin DIN type connectors known as P1 and P2 that connect the module to the backplane of the VME bus.
