Product Description

IC697MDL340 is a 120 VAC 16-Point Output Module by GE for the Series 90-70.
Highlighted features include four isolated groups for a total of 16 points, 2 amp capacity per point, and 10x rated current high inrush capacity. This discrete output module allows the groups of points to be used on separate phases of the AC supply. The four-output groups are fused individually with a 10 amp fuse.

The IC697MDL340 module delivers a high degree of inrush current, which makes the outputs ideal for a number of inductive and incandescent loads. This particular module will pick up most size 4 contactors. Another highlight of the IC697MDL340 module is the use of LED indicators to show the ON/OFF status of each point on the PLC side of the circuit. Additionally, there is an LED to emit the status of the fuses, which are grouped at the top of the module. The module is keyed mechanically, which guarantees correct replacement with a similar type in the field. I/O references are user-configurable, and DIP switches and jumpers are unnecessary.

The IC697MDL340 is compatible with an array of load devices, including solenoids, motor starters, and indicators. The rating of 2 amps per point relates to the long term capacity of each point. Due to heat dissipation within the module, the max current capacity for each group of outputs is limited to 4 amps. Each output on the module is capable of transiently conducting a surge current greater than its long-term current rating. The rate at which such surges can be repeated depends on the current rating of the device and the duty cycle (percent of time the device is ON). In certain operating conditions, the module can be programmer-configured. Output points can be programmed to maintain existing output state or turn OFF by default.

Customer Questions and Answers

  • Question:  What is an IC697MDL340?  Answer:  The IC697MDL340 is an 120 Volt AC, 2 Amp, 16-Point Output module of the GE Fanuc Series 90-70. This module provides 4 isolated groups of 4 points each.
  • Question: The 4 isolated groups of 4 output points allow what to happen?  Answer:  Because they are isolated, it allows for each group of 4 points to be used on a different phase of the AC supply. (Each group of 4 outputs is individually fused with a 10 amp fuse.)
  • Question: What are the features of IC697MDL340?  Answer:
    • 16 points- 4 isolated groups of 4 points
    • 2 amp capacity per point
    • high inrush capacity (10x rated current)
  • Question: Because IC697MDL340 has a high degree of inrush current, the outputs are suitable for what? Answer:  They are suitable for a large range of inductive and incandescent loads. (The module will pick up most size 4 contactors.)
  • Question: What do the LED indicators (located at the top of the module) tell you?  Answer:  They inform you of the status of each point on the logic (PLC) side of the circuit. There is also a LED to tell you the status of the fuses.
  • Question: Is configuration of I/O references available on IC697MDL340?  Answer:  Yes, they are configurable without the use of jumpers or DIP switches.
  • Question: Configuration of IC697MDL340 is done through what?  Answer:  Configuration can be completed through the configuration function of the MS-DOS or Windows programming software.
  • Question: What should I do in the event my IC697MDL340 is not working properly?  Answer:  Your IC697MDL340 might be in need of repair
