IC697MDL254 is a 48 VAC Discrete Input Module with 32 points manufactured by GE for the 90-70 Series. The input points are separated into four isolated groups of eight points, which means each group of points can be used on a different phase of the AC supply. The input is resistive with IEC standard type 1 current-voltage characteristics and characteristics are compatible with a variety of proximity switches. Module power requires 0.30 amps from the 5 volt bus on the backplane.
The IC697MDL254 module is equipped with LED indicators that continuously show the ON-OFF status of each point. Another useful feature is mechanical keying that ensures correct replacement with a similar type in the field. I/O references are configured by the user and does not require jumpers or DIP switches. Configuration is completed using the configuration function of the MS-DOS or Windows programming software. The Programming Software configuration function is conveniently installed on the programming device.
This module works with a variety of pushbuttons, limit switches, selector switches, and electronic switches (2 or 3 wire). The input circuitry delivers ample current to ensure dependable operation of the switching device. Input current is generally 10mA in the ON state and will accept 2 mA leakage current in the OFF state without turning on.
This module includes a mechanical key to prevent accidental substitution of one module type for another in a given slot. The key fits a specifically shaped area on the board located below the connector. When the module is installed for the first time, the key is latched onto the backplane center rail. When the module is extracted, the key will remain in the center rail to configure the slot to receive only identical module types. If the user must change the module location in the rack after the key has been latched, the key can be removed by pushing upward, unhooking, and pulling off the rail. Relocation and reinsertion can then follow. Note: The leftmost rack position is only to be used for power supply.
