The IC697HSC700 is a High-Speed Counter (HSC) Module designed for the 90-70 series created by GE Fanuc. Features of the high-speed counter module include a single slot, five selectable counter types, 12 single-ended or differential inputs, TTL, non-TTL, and magnetic pickup input thresholds, and four positive logic outputs with LEDs that indicate status. This module also has an external oscillator and built-in +5 VDC output. Configuration is completed via MS-DOS or Windows over Ethernet TCP/IP or the SNP port. The configuration function is already installed on the programming device, which can be a compatible PC.
The IC697HSC700 module processes rapid pulse signals directly (up to 200 KHz or 800 KHz for Type E in A Quad B mode. Functions include the ability to sense inputs, process input count data, and control outputs without requiring communication to the PLC CPU. The module has a straightforward, easy to use PLC interface ideal for industrial applications, including turbine flowmeter, meter proving, velocity measurement, material handling, and motion/process control.
High speed counter types for the IC697HSC700 module include A, B, C, D, and E configurations. The counters all have 12 inputs, four outputs (preset), and PLC ladder interrupt ability (optional). Count rates for types A-D are 200 KHz maximum with the high frequency filter and 30 Hz with the low-frequency filter. The Count, Count Disable, and Preload inputs for each counter can be configured for a high frequency filter (2.5 microseconds) or a low-frequency filter (12.5 milliseconds).
For type E, the maximum count rate with the low-frequency filter (12.5 milliseconds) is 30 Hz; with the high-frequency filter (2.5µs), the maximums are 200 KHz in Up/Down mode and 800 kHz in A Quad B mode. The Count, Count Disable, and Preload inputs for each counter can use either filter, however, the Strobe and Strobe Disable inputs use only the high-frequency filter. See the user manual for more information on type operating features.
