Product Description

Produced by GE Automation, the IC697CPM925 is a single-slot PLC CPU capable of controlling industrial machinery in real-time.
Communication with I/O and “smart option” modules is accomplished via a rack-mounted connection backplane. This device is configured by MS-DOS or by software applications running on legacy operating systems including Windows 95 and Windows NT.
The IC697CPM925 has a 64MHz 80486DX2 microprocessor capable of floating point decimal calculations as fast as 0.4 microseconds per Boolean function. This device supports up to 8K analog I/O and any mixture of 12K inputs and outputs.

The IC697CPM925 offers support for the following modules: discrete and analog I/O modules from the IC697 family, IC660 and IC661 I/O modules, and multiple coprocessor and communications modules. This device allows for up to one megabyte or user memory, which is maintained by an on-board lithium CMOS battery, as is the device’s calendar and clock. Operating system firmware is housed in flash memory. Note: Flash memory is not capable of storing user information. The user is not required to disassemble the device or replace EPROM to update firmware. To update firmware, connect the device to a compatible computer, insert the firmware floppy disk, and run the appropriate Loader software.

To operate the IC697CPM925, use either the three-position RUN/STOP switch or attach a programmer and use programming software. Device configuration is possible by way of serial, parallel, or Ethernet interface. Device configuration is secured via passwords or a manual memory protect keyswitch. When using the memory protect keyswitch, be sure to use a parallel connected programmer linked to the Bus Transmitter module. To prevent overheating, a fan capable of 70 cubic feet per minute (CFM) is required. Installation instructions are provided in the device manual. Rack power should be off before installation is attempted. The memory protect keyswitch should be OFF, and the toggle switch must be in the STOP position. Battery connection is possible on either connector. Connect the device to slot 1. Then power on the device.
