The IC697CGR772 is a Hot Standby Dual Bus CPU control module in the GE Genius Series. The IC697CGR772 module is designed as a one slot controller which permits fluctuating mandatory point calculations for CPU redundancy applications. Designed and programmed by the Microsoft Disk Operating System, the IC697CGR772 has capability to achieve real time control of machines’ processes and material handling systems. The IC697CGR772 module connects with modules that are smart option or modules with the I/O over the backplane, which is rack mounted.
The IC697CGR772 module is designed with a three-position switch and can be operated remotely by an attached programmer and its software. Configured data can be locked by using passwords or using the memory protect keyswitch, as data can be locked manually. In the protected position, configured data can only be altered by a programmer linked with the bus transmitter module. The IC697CGR772 module’s seven LEDs are indicators for the status of the CPU. The IC697CGR772 module is powered by an isolated source and 5VDC for external power options with a lithium battery. The lithium battery preserves data and program memory in instances when power is removed. The new battery should be connected before the old battery is removed. A low battery is indicated when the OK LED will not stay on.
The module’s memory board is an essential part of the IC697CGR772. The memory board possesses 512 Kbytes of battery backed CMOS RAM. When errors occur, they are conveyed to the CPU through the CPU routine which is provided via the memory board. There are three serial ports located on the IC697CGR772 module that can be used to perform as three discrete communication ports. Connection to these ports is accessible via the front of the IC697CGR772 module.
