The GE Fanuc IC697CBL700 Power Supply Extension Cable Kit is a pre-wired, high-quality, 3-foot (1 meter) cable for applications where, due to extended I/O usage, a second GE Fanuc Series 90-70 PLC rack should be added to the existing PLC. The GE Fanuc IC697CBL700 Power Supply Extension Cable Kit draws the required power for the operation of a second PLC rack by using a 9-pin D-type connector. An important consideration that the users should take into account is that the power supply that will be used for this application needs to have a high enough power capacity to satisfy the requirements of both PLC racks, which means that the total load the PLC racks should always remain within the power supply capacity so that the applications can be deployed successfully.
The GE Fanuc IC697CBL700 Power Supply Extension Cable Kit is designed for operation inside a properly protected industrial enclosure, with an operating temperature range between -25 and +70 degrees Celsius (-13 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit). The GE Fanuc IC697CBL700 Power Supply Extension Cable Kit should also be stored in a humidity-free location, with no exposure to direct sunlight, and it should not be removed from the plastic bag and cardboard box provided by the manufacturer until it is ready to be installed. The extension cable includes the 5 Volts DC power that is required for the second PLC rack and the accessory ACFAIL and SYSRESET sequencing control signals that will be needed during operation. Inter-rack communication and bus interface modules are sold separately and are not standard devices for this power supply extension kit.
Technical Information
The IC697CBL700 cable is a GE Fanuc power supply extension cable. It allows a single power supply to operate 2 racks with a 55/100 AC/DC power supply. The extension cable is designed with 5 Volts power and control signals. The extension cable uses a 9-pin D-type connector for connections. It carries the ACFAIL and SYSRESET signals and the 5 Volts power bus from the first rack to the second rack. The current rating of the second rack is less than 5.2 Amps. When connecting 2 racks by using the cable, the distance should be less than 1 meter. The IC697CBL700 cable is connected to the left side panel of the rack. During installation, 6 inches of space should be cleared on the left side for access to the connector. The power supply should be completely turned off during the installation process for safety.
The GE Fanuc IC697CBL700 cable is connected to the power supply end on the first rack and another end is connected to the faceplate of the second rack. The power supply operates with a voltage rating of 120/240 Volts AC. It offers both overcurrent and overvoltage protection to both of the racks. For overvoltage protection, the unit is equipped with an electronic shutdown circuit that breaks the circuit if the voltage exceeds 6.2 Volts. A backup voltage clamp is also present that safeguards the cable against overvoltage due to internal faults. The IC697CBL700 cable comes with a power supply cover plate and it is mounted to the rack by using M 2.5 screws.
