IC697BEM761 is an Input / Output Interface Module for the IC600 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). The IC697BEM761 module is a member of the 90-70 series manufactured by GE Fanuc. The IC697BEM761 module acts as an interface between the IC600 I/O bus and IC697 I/O modules.
The IC697BEM761 module is located in an IC697 rack and has two 37-pin connectors that are similar to those used to connect the IC600 I/O Receiver to the IC600 I/O bus. The IC600 PLC can be configured to include IC600 I/O, IC697 I/O, and IC660 I/O. It is possible to include IC600 and IC697 I/O racks on a single I/O chain. Additionally, 128 (five-slot rack) or 256 (nine-slot rack) I/O references are assigned to each IC697 I/O rack. It is possible to use a maximum of eight such racks in a system, thus making a provision of up to 2000 addressable points. Any one of these addressable points can be used as an input or an output.
In any operation, the IC697BEM761 module reads and writes data to each I/O module in the rack and exchanges this data with the IC600 CPU via the I/O bus. A minimum of 8K registers are required for the operation of the IC697BEM761 module. Interfacing IC697 I/O modules to the I/O bus of a IC600 programmable controller is a highlighted feature of the IC697BEM761. Other notable features include its ability to support up to 8K racks per I/O system and its rack-dependent I/O references.
It is important to note that the IC697BEM761 module should only be inserted in slot 1, which is just next to the power supply. Slots 2-9 are generally reserved for I/O modules.
