Product Description

The GE Fanuc IC693PWR321 is a standard power supply. This unit is a 30 watt supply that can use direct or alternating current. It operates on an input voltage of either 120/240 VAC or 125 VDC. Aside from a +5VDC output, this power supply can provide two +24 VDC outputs. One is a relay power output, which is used to power circuits on Series 90-30 Output Relay modules. The other is an isolated output, which is used internally by some modules. It can also provide external power for 24 VDC Input modules.

Just like I/O modules, this power supply is easily compatible with the Series 90-30 system and works with any CPU model. There is a limiting feature on the power supply that protects the hardware by shutting the power off if there is a direct short. The IC693PWR321 has six terminals for user connections. Like all Series 90-30 power supplies, this model is connected to the CPU performance. This enables simplex, fail-safe, and fault tolerance capabilities. The power supply also has advanced diagnostics as well as built-in smart switch fusing. This makes for high-performance and increased safety when using the unit.

The IC693PWR321 module is a power supply module manufactured by GE Fanuc Automation as part of Series 90-30. It is used to provide power for the applications handled by the Series 90-30 PLCs. This unit is placed in the leftmost slot of the PLC baseplate. It operates with a power rating of 30 Watts, and it supports AC as well as DC power supplies. This power supply comes with an operating voltage range of 85 to 264 Volts AC and 100 to 300 Volts DC. The IC693PWR321 power supply has 3 output voltage ratings including 24 Volts DC and 5 Volts DC regular voltage, and 24 Volts DC of isolated voltage. The output voltage powers the different circuits while the isolated voltage is intended for special modules that provide the external power. The inrush current of this module is 4 Amps at peak, for a maximum of 250 milliseconds. This power supply is a programmable controller which features a robust build and also comes with a battery for backup.

The GE Fanuc IC693PWR321 power supply module is well matched with different CPU modules. It is listed and certified for compliance with the CE and cULus industrial standards. This unit is specially designed and intended to operate in the Class One, Division Two rated environments. The IC693PWR321 power supply features a power supply controlling functionality which protects the hardware in case of a direct short.  It comes with 6 terminals that are used for user connections. Additionally, this power supply has improved diagnostics features which help in tracking all the updates and events for the users. It features an RS-485 serial port for communication purposes.

Selecting the Appropriate Power Supply with CPU374

Description

CPU374 is compatible with any 90-30 power supplies, except Rev A through J, Rev W and Rev X of Power Supply IC693PWR321. If an IC693PWR321 supply is used, it must be Rev K through V, or Rev Y or later

Resolution

If Release 11.01 or later CPU374 is used with Rev X or W of PWR321, it will always powerup in a cleared state - logic, configuration, stored values, fault tables are all cleared or lost.

A high cap power supply PWR330 is strongly recommended.

Finally, CPU374 consumes 1.48A @ 5VDC approx 7.4 watts.

Customer Questions and Answers

  • Question:  What is an IC693PWR321?  Answer:  The IC693PWR321 is a Standard Power Supply. This module is a 30 watt supply that can operate from an input voltage source in the range of 85 to 264 VAC or 100 to 300 VDC. The specifications for this product are on IC693PWR321's website page.
  • Question:  How many outputs does this power supply provide?  Answer:  The IC693PWR321 provides 3 outputs.
  • Question:  What are those outputs?  Answer:
    • +5 VDC output
    • +24 VDC "Relay" power output, which provides power to circuits on Series 90-30 Output Relay modules.
    • "Isolated" +24 VDC, which is used internally by some modules and can also be used to provide external power for 24 VDC Input modules.
  • Question:  What is the load capacity for IC693PWR321?  Answer:  30 watts
  • Question:  What is the nominal input for IC693PWR321?  Answer:  100 to 240 VAC or 125 VDC
  • Question:  Where should the power supplies be installed?  Answer:  Power supplies must be installed in the leftmost slot in all baseplates.
  • Question:  How many terminals does this power supply have?  Answer:  In previous versions of this power supply, it had 5 terminals on the terminal block. The new version has six terminals (It is functionally the same.). The change was made to conform to European EC requirements.
  • Question:  What does it mean when the OK light is green?  Answer:  It is referring to the CPU. If the OK light is green it means that the CPU has reported back that it is in a fully functional mode.
  • Question:  How can I tell if my IC693PWR321 is not working?  Answer:  If your PWR or OK light is not on, if the power supply is excessively loud, if the PS PORT is not blinking, or if your RUN light does not come on when you have the module running then your product may need repair.
