The GE Fanuc IC693MDL632 is a 125 volt DC Positive/Negative Logic Input module. This module has 8 separate input points, divided evenly between two isolated groups. Each of these two groups has their own individual common. The commons are not connected or tied together inside the body of the module.
Operators can use this module with a Series 90-30 PLC. This is done by installing it in an I/O slot of a 5-slot or 10-slot base plate.
In order to operate field devices, the operator must supply power to them. First, the input device must be connected. This is done between the module input and the power bus. There is a wide range of input device that are compatible with input characteristics. This includes but is not limited to electronic proximity switches, pushbuttons and limit switches.
The IC693MDL632 module can have positive or negative logic characteristics. This is by design. It can sink current to the user common or negative power bus from the input device – positive logic. Conversely, the module can source current from the input device and send it to the user common or positive power bus – negative logic.
On the top of the module, users will find the LED block. There are two horizontal rows of indicators. As this module has just 8 points, it only uses the top row – points 1 to 8. These show the on/off status of each point.
There is a hinged door on this module and an insert is between the inner and outer surfaces of the door. When the door is closed, the surface of the insert that is facing the inside of the module has information on circuit wiring. Also, circuit identification information can be recorded on the outer surface.
On the outer-left edge of the insert, users can see it is red. This is color-coded to let the user know it is a high-voltage module.
