The GE Fanuc IC693DSM324 is a motion controller used in the PACsystems RX3i which performs the operations like math synchronous and logic decisions at high speed. This module requires CPU firmware for the 90-30 series of version 10 or later. The power needed for this module is 5V DC and current drawn from the DSM is 860 mA along with the encoder current. The Load parameter COMM_REQ function is used to prevent the loss of PLC module faults in IC693DSM324 motion controller.
The IC693DSM324 path generator runs at a higher velocity than the programmed velocity. This module does not support any external decoders. Also, the servo jump occurs whenever the amplifier stops working, making the servo to get re-enabled. This can be prevented by using cycle v24 which has direct control over the servo amplifier. The IC693DSM374 may permit jog beyond the specified EOT limits. Thus the EOT limit must be less than the corresponding position limit in order to stop the jog. The module performs the function of halting programmed motion as well as follower motion by aborting %Q bit and enabling %Q bit. While disabling the master axes, the CAM should be aborted in case the operation of CAM command has to be carried out in an absolute mode. The module IC693DSM374 can be used in the applications involving mechanical cams because of the presence of an electronic CAM follower. This module also controls digital servos of four αi and βi series.
