Product Description

The IC693CPU352 is a single slot CPU module manufactured by GE Automation and Controls for the Series 90/30 PLC system. The total number of Baseplates for each system is 8, which includes one baseplate for CPU, and seven remote and expansion. The load requirement of the Power Supply is 890mA from a +5Volts DC supply. The processor type is an 80386EX with a processing speed of 25Mhz. The optimum operating temperature for the system is between 0 degrees and 60 degrees Celsius (32 degrees and 140 degrees Fahrenheit). This specification is also referred to as the ambient temperature. The typical rate of scanning is 0.22milliseconds for every 1K logic (I.e., Boolean contacts).

Since the release of version 9.0 firmware, the maximum program memory for the user is 240K Bytes. However, the effective available size of the program memory for the user depends on configured amounts for configurable types of word memory. The discrete input and output points are 2048 each, 4096 bits for internal coils, 1280 bits for global memory, 256 bits for temporary output coils, 128 bits total (%S, %SB, %SA, %SC which have 32 bits for each) as references for system status. There are %R (Register Memory), %AI (Analog Inputs), %AQ (Analog Outputs), all configurable in increments of 128 words.

There are more than 2000 numbers of Timers/Counters, and there are also Shift Registers present. There are three serial ports built-in, which support RTU slave and SNP or SNPX slave, and SNP or SNPX master or slave, and Serial Input/output (on port 1 and port 2). Communications support LAN (multidrop supported), Ethernet, Profibus, FIP, GBC, GCM+ option modules. Flash memory and RAM are the available storage memory types. The Logicmaster configuration and programming software support CPU352.

The IC693CPU352 CPU from GE Fanuc is a Series 90-30 CPU module. It is designed to function at the center of a programmable logic controller or PLC from the Series 90-30 product line. In a Series 90-30 PLC, the IC693CPU352 CPU module is installed in a special CPU baseplate, and the PLC can contain as many as 7 additional baseplates which are remote baseplates or expansion baseplates. The voltage input rating of the IC693CPU352 CPU module is 5 Volts DC while its current rating is 910 milliamps. The maximum processor speed of this CPU is 25 Megahertz. The IC693CPU352 CPU module can operate at full power in a temperature range between 32 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit or 0 and 60 degrees Celsius.

The GE Fanuc Series 90-30 IC693CPU352 CPU module comes with 3 serial ports for communication, and it supports the RTU slave protocol, the SNP slave protocol, and the SNPX slave protocol. This CPU dissipates about 4.55 Watts of heat during operation. Option modules can be connected to the IC693CPU352 CPU module to allow it to communicate through different networks. These option modules include Profibus, Ethernet, FIP, GBC, GCM+, and multi-drop LAN modules. The IC693CPU352 CPU module is capable of scanning 1 KB of logic approximately every 0.22 milliseconds. There is a shield ground connector on the bottom of the CPU module that allows it to be protected. The operating modes supported by the IC693CPU352 CPU module are the Run mode and the Stop mode, and the users can select the mode that they want with a keyswitch.

Customer Questions and Answers

  • Question:  What is an IC693CPU352?  Answer:  The IC693CPU352 is a single-slot Central Processing Unit (from the GE Fanuc Series 90-30) with 2 built-in serial ports. This unit is the "brains" of the PLC and is where most of the calculations take place.
  • Question:  What's the first thing you should do when testing your IC693CPU352?  Answer:  When you attach the IC693CPU352 to a 5 or 10 slot rack and power it up, you should be checking for an OK light.
  • Question:  What if I do not have an OK light after I have powered it up?  Answer:  If you don't have an OK light, then you won't be able to follow through with the test. The lack of an OK light indicates, right from the start, there is something wrong with your IC693CPU352.
  • Question:  What is this initial test showing?  Answer:  You're basically turning on the configuration and logic in this processor in order to set it to run mode. You want to see that this is a good working processor.
  • Question:  With what software should I test my IC693CPU352?  Answer:  You can test your IC693CPU352 with Proficy Machine Edition.
  • Question:  What will I need to test my IC693CPU352?  Answer:  All you will need is your IC693CPU352, a 5 or 10 slot rack, and a power supply.
  • Question:  If I think there is a problem with my processor, what should I do?  Answer:  You should, first, make sure that when you turn on the memory on/off protection switch, the RUN light comes on and then let the processor run overnight (or even 2-3 days). This is to check that it's able to sustain itself in run mode. (You want to make sure it doesn't fail or fall out of run mode for any reason.) If it does fail or fall out of run mode, then you can try reading the faults or errors through the Proficy Machine Edition software. It may give you enough information to help you fix the problem.
  • Question:  If I can't figure out how to fix my IC693CPU352, what is my next step?  Answer:  PDF Supply can repair your IC693CPU352 for you.
  • Question:  Things you should also be testing:  Answer:  You should make sure that both ports are working by plugging into them and making sure the LED lights come on when you do plug into them.
