Product Description

The CPU Model 350 IC693CPU350, acts as a controller, I/O system, and speciality module designed to meet the demands of flexible industrial solutions.  Among other things, it comes with 32Kbytes user memory, 4K I/O, 8 Racks and a logic execution of 0.22msec/K.  It is compatible with advanced modules such as Ethernet, various bus modules, and control. Designed in a single overall architecture, the IC693CPU350 is well suited for thousands of applications, such as complex motion control, mining, water treatment, elevator control, high-speed packaging, injection molding, material handling, food processing, continuous emission monitoring and many more.  By configuring just the system you need, you save critical space and reduce cost.  Furthermore, IC693CPU350 can also be adapted to a wide range of applications  such as: digital interfaces (for push buttons, switches, proximity sensors, relays, contactors and many other devices), analog modules (with varying degrees of resolution for flow, temperature or pressure applications),  direct connect wiring or remote termination  and local or remote I/O systems.

It has a built-in Ethernet user-enabled communication which supports both SRTP and Modbus TCP/IP application protocols and provides a real-time link for connected systems.  With scalable processing power, users can create a system that is ideal today while leaving open the option of creating more powerful system tomorrow without changing your software.  An integrated motion control supports high performance in point-to-point applications.  With a variety of field bus interfaces, the IC693CPU350 enables distributed control and/or I/O.  Users can choose from a variety of easy to install and quick to configure field bus interface modules.  It is programmable with Proficy Logic Developer PLC-Machine Edition and supports a wide range of programming languages such as Ladder Diagram (LDI), Instruction List (IL), Structural Text (ST), and C Block.  It is a low-cost solution with redundant CPUs and power supplies for high availability solutions.

The IC693CPU350 is a single slot CPU module with one CPU baseplate and 7 expansion and/or remote baseplates.  It uses a 80386EX processor type with a speed of 25 MHz, operating with an ambient temperature of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit). This CPU also has a typical scan rate of .22 msec/K and maximum user program memory of 32K bytes.  It is equipped with a built-in serial port which supports SNP/SNP-X slave protocols and a LAN port which supports multidrop, Ethernet, FIP, Profibus, GBC, GCM, and GCM+ option modules.  The controller supports shift registers, override, battery backed clock, PCM/CCM compatibility, periodic subroutine interrupts’ feature, floating point Math, and RAM and flash memory storage.  It requires 670 milliamps supplied from a +5 VDC power supply.

The IC693CPU350 CPU module is a product of GE Fanuc Automation and it is manufactured as a member of the Series 90-30 product line. It has a processor with a speed of 25 Megahertz and it can work as either an embedded or modular CPU for the Series 90-30 PLCs. For the embedded systems, the PLC baseplate has a built-in CPU module to help enable cost savings. The embedded systems are not as powerful as the modular systems, however. The modular PLC systems come with the CPU as a separate plug-in processor module. The GE Fanuc IC693CPU350 CPU module is a single-slot CPU module with 8 baseplates for every system, and these baseplates includes the CPU baseplate along with 7 other remote or expansion baseplates. The CPU module operates on a current of 670 milliamps and an input voltage of 5 Volts DC. It has a typical scan rate of 0.22 milliseconds/1 KB of logic.

The IC693CPU350 CPU module has a user program memory capacity of 32 KB at maximum, with discrete input points that have 2048 words of storage capacity and discrete output points that have 2048 words of storage capacity. The IC693CPU350 CPU module has a discrete global memory capacity of 1280 bits, and a register memory capacity of 9999 words. The analog inputs are rated at 2048 words, the analog outputs are rated at 512 words, and the system registers are rated 28 words. The GE Fanuc IC693CPU350 CPU module has support for over 2000 timers and counters. Additionally, this module also has support for the shift registers. It has one integrated serial port that supports the SNPX/SNP slave protocols. It operates in a temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius.

Program Transfer from 90-30 CPU into VersaPro Using Hand Held Programmer

Description

Program transfer from 90-30 CPU into VersaPro by using Hand Held Programmer.

Resolution

It is possible to transfer a program from one 90-30 CPU that is isolated from VersaPro to another 90-30 CPU that is not, using the Hand Held Programmer. Upload the program from PLC into memory card of the Hand Held Programmer, then transfer the program back to the PLC on the other destination and then upload the program into VersaPro project.

According to VersaPro Help file, PLC Firmware Compatibility List, the minimum requirements for IC693CPU350 is BC(9.01), BD(9.10), BE(10.0) RA-BA(8.01).

Customer Questions and Answers

  • Question:   What is an IC693CPU350?  Answer:  The IC693CPU350 is a single-slot Central Processing Unit from the GE Fanuc Series 90-30. This unit is the "brains" of the PLC and is where most of the calculations take place.
  • Question:  What's the first thing you should do when testing your IC693CPU350?  Answer:  When you attach the IC693CPU350 to a 5 or 10 slot rack and power it up, you should be checking for an OK light.
  • Question:  What if I do not have an OK light after I have powered it up?  Answer:  If you don't have an OK light, then you won't be able to follow through with the test. The lack of an OK light indicates, right from the start, there is something wrong with your IC693CPU350.
  • Question:  What is this initial test showing?  Answer:  You're basically turning on the configuration and logic in this processor in order to set it to run mode. You want to see that this is a good working processor.
  • Question:  With what software should I test my IC693CPU350?  Answer:  You can test your IC693CPU350 with Proficy Machine Edition.
  • Question:  What will I need to test my IC693CPU350?  Answer:  All you will need is your IC693CPU350, a 5 or 10 slot rack, and a power supply.
  • Question:  If I think there is a problem with my processor, what should I do?  Answer:  You should, first, make sure that when you turn on the memory on/off protection switch, the RUN light comes on and then let the processor run overnight (or even 2-3 days). This is to check that it's able to sustain itself in run mode. (You want to make sure it doesn't fail or fall out of run mode for any reason.) If it does fail or fall out of run mode, then you can try reading the faults or errors through the Proficy Machine Edition software. It may give you enough information to help you fix the problem.
  • Question:  If I can't figure out how to fix my IC693CPU350, what is my next step?  Answer:  PDF Supply can repair your IC693CPU350 for you.

For more information on the IC693CPU350 Central Processing Unit of the GE 90-30 Series, please see the Datasheet Manual.
