Product Description

The GE Fanuc IC693CPU323 is a 10-Slot Base Turbo CPU. This unit has 12 Kb of User Program Memory. The Series 90-30 PLC family comprises controllers and I/O systems as well as speciality modules. These are all designed specifically to give the user a more versatile and extensive control system over their industrial applications and processes. Due to the wide range of available modules, it is easy to introduce automated processes to your business. Among the range are 14 powerful CPU units. The IC693CPU323 is a standard CPU, best suited to entry-level applications that have low I/O counts. As the CPU is embedded in the backplane, all I/O slots are available for use. Advanced modules such as motion control and Ethernet can be used with this CPU.

The IC693CPU323 baseplate is a baseplate manufactured by GE Fanuc as part of Series 90-30. It is a 10-slot embedded CPU baseplate. There are several CPU models in the Series 90-30 PLCs that differ in speed, memory capacity, I/O capacity, and in advanced features. The 2 basic available types of CPUs are the modular and embedded CPUs. The embedded CPUs like the CPU in the IC693CPU323 baseplate are low-cost, but they lack the power and the versatility of modular CPUs. The embedded CPUs are part of the embedded IC693CPU323 CPU baseplate in which the memory chips and the CPU are soldered on the backplane board. The embedded CPUs cannot be changed, they do not support expansion or remote racks, and they have no time-of-day clocks since the memory back-up battery is found in the power supply and unplugging the power supply may disconnect the battery from the memory circuits.

The GE Fanuc Series 90-30 IC693CPU323 embedded CPU baseplate has power requirements that include a 5 Volts DC voltage rating and a current rating of 430 milliamps. This baseplate is not well matched with the GE Fanuc CCM and PCM devices, and it is not recommended to use it with these devices. It has an operating temperature range from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. The override features, interrupt features, and the battery-backed clocks are among the features that many CPUs have but that the CPU in the IC693CPU323 embedded CPU baseplate does not have. It has support for the shift registers, however, and the number of timers and counters available is 340. There is one serial port on the GE Fanuc IC693CPU323 baseplate that supports only the SNP slave and the SNP-X slave communication protocols.

Customer Questions and Answers

  • Question:  What is an IC693CPU323?  Answer:  The IC693CPU323 is a 10 slot rack with an embedded Turbo Central Processing Unit (from the GE Fanuc Series 90-30). This unit is the "brains" of the PLC and is where most of the calculations take place.
  • Question:  What's the first thing you should do when testing your IC693CPU323?  Answer:  When you power the IC693CPU323 up, you should be checking for an OK light.
  • Question:  What if I do not have an OK light after I have powered it up?  Answer:  If you don't have an OK light, then you won't be able to follow through with the test. The lack of an OK light indicates, right from the start, there is something wrong with your IC693CPU323.
  • Question:  What is this initial test showing?  Answer:  You're basically turning on the configuration and logic in this processor in order to set it to run mode. You want to see that this is a good working processor.
  • Question:  With what software should I test my IC693CPU323?  Answer:  You can test your IC693CPU323 with Proficy Machine Edition.
  • Question:  What will I need to test my IC693CPU323?  Answer:  All you will need is your IC693CPU323 and a power supply.
  • Question:  If I think there is a problem with my processor, what should I do?  Answer:  You should, first, make sure the RUN light comes on and then let the processor run overnight (or even 2-3 days). This is to check that it's able to sustain itself in run mode. (You want to make sure it doesn't fail or fall out of run mode for any reason.) If it does fail or fall out of run mode, then you can try reading the faults or errors through the Proficy Machine Edition software. It may give you enough information to help you fix the problem.
  • Question:  If I can't figure out how to fix my IC693CPU323, what is my next step?  Answer:  PDF Supply can repair your IC693CPU323 for you.
