Product Description

IC693ALG392 is an Analog Current/Voltage Output Module for the PACSystems RX3i and Series 90-30. The module has eight single-ended output channels with voltage outputs and/or current loop outputs based on installation by the user. Each channel can be generated the configuration software for the subsequent scopes (0 to +10 volts) as unipolar, (-10 to +10 volts) bipolar, 0 to 20 milliamps, or 4 to 20 milliamps. Each of the channels is able to translate 15 to 16 bits. This is reliant on the range that is preferred by the user. All eight channels are renewed every 8 milliseconds.

The IC693ALG392 module reports an Open Wire fault to the CPU for each channel when in current modes. The module can go to a known last state when system power is disturbed. If external power is continuously applied to the module, each output will keep its last value or reset to zero as configured. Installation in any I/O slot of an RX3i or Series 90-30 system is possible.

This module must gain its 24 VDC power from an outside source that is connected to the terminal block in a direct manner. Each output channel is single-ended and factory adjusted to .625  μA. This may change based on voltage. The user should note that in the presence of harsh RF interference, the exactness of the module may be reduced to  +/-1% FS for current outputs and +/- 3% FS for voltage outputs. One should also note that this module must be fixed in a metal enclosure for correct functioning.

GE Fanuc Automation manufactures the IC693ALG392 Analog Current/Voltage Output Module as part of the Series 90-30 product line. This module is an 8-channel analog output module that is intended to help provide current as well as voltage loop outputs from a maximum of 8 output channels that are single-ended. This module offers bipolar and unipolar voltage ranges along with current ranges of 0 to 20 milliamps or 4 to 20 milliamps. Every output channel has the ability to execute digital-analog conversion. The 8 output channels have an update rate of 8 milliseconds per channel. When in the current mode, the IC693ALG392 module comes with facilities that help in reporting open wire faults to the CPU. When there is a power interruption, this analog current/voltage output module can still return to the last operating state that it was in before the fault occurred. After applying the external power to the module after a power failure, each of the outputs is configured to the last value it was at or it can be reset to zero.

The GE Fanuc Series 90-30 IC693ALG392 Analog Current/Voltage Output Module supports installation in any of the RX3i PACSystems I/O chassis slots. It has an external power supply with a voltage rating of 24 Volts DC and this power supply can be connected to the module’s terminal block. This output module operates at a maximum load resistance to help it to reach and maintain the optimal levels of performance and durability. The IC693ALG392 Analog Current/Voltage Output Module features 2 LED indicators that show the status of the module in operation as well as the power supply status. The operators can configure the mode of operation of each output channel as a voltage output or a current output. Both modes of operation allow for simultaneous selection.

Blink Code Errors on S90-30 Analog and High Speed Counter Modules When Used with SVC_REQ #14 - "Clear Fault Tables"

Description

Executing multiple SVC_REQ #14's (Clear Fault Tables) with a constant of "1" to clear the I/O Fault Table via logic can cause S90-30 Analog (such as IC693ALG392) and High Speed Counters to enter a Blink Code state if the SVC_REQ is allowed to execute several CPU scans in a row. A common observed blink code sequence is: 5 blinks, 1 blink, 3 blinks, then one long blink. When an Analog or High Speed Counter module enters the blink code state, it can only be recovered by cycling power to the baseplate in which it is installed.

The issue does not seem to occur when a SVC_REQ #14 is used to clear the PLC Fault Tables, but it is always good programming practice to use a one-shot/transitional contact when executing any Service Request (SVC_REQ)

Resolution

Always use a one-shot or transitional contact in logic to execute a SVC_REQ #14 so that multiple SVC_REQ #14 commands are not issued in successive CPU scans.

Customer Questions and Answers

  • Question:  What is an IC693ALG392?  Answer:  The IC693ALG392 is a one, 8-Channel Analog Current/Voltage Output module. With this unit you get 8 single-ended output channels and voltage outputs. Each one of these channels is capable of converting 15-16 bits of binary digital data to an analog output.
  • Question:  What is the main power supply for IC693ALG392?  Answer:  The main power supply for IC693ALG392 Analog Output of the GE 90-30 Series MUST be the user supplied single +24 VDC power source (and it requires a maximum current of 315 mA).
  • Question:  Does this module have jumpers or switchers for configuration?  Answer:  No, it does not.
  • Question:  What does the top LED (OK) provide?  Answer:  It provides the IC693ALG392's status information.
  •  Question:  What does the bottom LED (USOK) indicate?  Answer:  It indicates whether the user supply is present and above a minimum designated level.
  • Question:  What is a good way to test this Analog Output Voltage/Current module?  Answer:  You can use a multi-meter to test the voltage/current in the IC693ALG392. Since this is an analog part, you can test at different levels for different responses.
  • Question:  How to tell if your device is faulty (troubleshooting).  Answer:  If it gives you a full value no matter what you put into your output table, if your OK light is off, if your USOK light is off, or if everything seems to be working properly but you are not getting anything in return on your multi-meter, your device may need repair
