The IC695RMX128 Module is a redundancy memory xchange module that has been designed by GE Fanuc Automation and included in the RX3i PACSystems series. The main purpose of this module is to operate as a node on a reflective memory network or as a dedicated link between CPUs in a hot standby CPU redundancy system. When used in the first instance, the module provides deterministic data sharing among PLCs and other computing devices connected to the optic network. When it is used in a redundancy system, this module provides a path so that data can be transferred between 2 redundancy CPUs in a redundant system. This last mechanism consists of 2 CPUs that work with identical functions whose main objective is to act as the backup CPU for each other. The GE Fanuc Automation IC695RMX128 Redundancy Memory Xchange Module has been designed to be used in an RX3i PACSystems rack. In this rack, a total of 6 memory exchange modules can be installed in any combination.
Some of the features of the GE Fanuc Automation IC695RMX128 Redundancy Memory Xchange Module are a reflective memory capacity of 128 MB, software configuration support for each node parameter, and a high-speed easy-to-use 2.12 Gbaud Network. The module is also compatible with the VMIC 5565 family of reflective memory devices. The GE Fanuc Automation IC695RMX128 Redundancy Memory Xchange Module provides a maximum network transfer rate of 2.1 GB per second according to the programmable module interrupt output level that is allowed. This module also provides network error detection features and a configurable network memory offset feature that enables the users to assign nodes on a specific network to groups according to the 16 MB segments that are available in the network address space.

Reflective Memory -- PC RFM to PACSystems RMX
Description
There is one red LED ON at the PC RFM card, but no communications with the PLC IC698RMX016 or IC695RMX128 modules.
After installing the Reflective Memory module and necessary optical cables, the PLC RMX module may still not be communicating with the PC RFM card.
Resolution
The PLC Reflective Memory Module (RMX016 and RMX128) can be configured as a Redundancy Only Link, or a Communications Only Link. They can not function as both at the same time.
There needs to be a slight change to the PLC RMX Module default configuration:
- Open the project in Proficy Machine Edition
- Go to HW configuration
- Locate RMX016 or RMX128 module
- Double-click to open its properties
- Locate "redundant link" entry
- Change this to "Disabled" to allow external communications
- Download the HW configuration to the PLC
The RMX module should now be working as an "ordinary" CMX module, which will now communicate with the RFM card in the PC.
Note that you should purchase a CMX card for PLC communications, as the RMX is designed to support PLC CPU redundancy. However it may be used as described above where CMX stock is not available or to maintain 1 part number for interchangeable spares.
