The GE Fanuc IC694BEM331 Genius Bus Controller interfaces a PACSystems RX3i and a Genius I/O serial bus. In addition to the Bus Controller, the bus will also serve: Genius blocks, remote drops, VersaMax and Field Control I/O Stations, PLCs with Genius Bus, Genius Hand-Held Monitor (HHM), and numerous hosts. Featuring 128 bytes exchange with each device on the Genius I/O bus, the Genius blocks and other devices report faults in an automatic fashion, including alarms and certain other previously defined issues to the bus controller. The bus controller then manages any diagnostic messages it receives, which are then read by the CPU routinely. Faults can then be displayed in the fault table if the programming software is employed.
The IC694BEM331 maintains all Genius datagrams and can send up to 128 bytes of Global Data with each bus review. Global data is data that is spontaneously and mechanically broadcast. Up to eight Genius bus controllers can be incorporated in the system with each transferring up to 128 bytes.
LEDs are found on the front of the controller to specify operating status. With advanced diagnostic capabilities, the daisy chained bus cable uses a single twisted pair plus shield or Twinax. However, fiber optic cable and modems can also be used. The largest length of the bus is 7800 feet at 4Kbaud, 4500 feet at 76.8 Kbaud, 3500 feet at 153.6 Kbaud, and 2000 feet at 153.6 Kbaud standard. The highest number of devices for this unit is 32 at all baud rates except the 38.4 Kbaud or 16 devices at 38.4 Kbaud. The controller is well-suited with multiple series and can trade global data with an RX3i Genius bus controller with firmware version 1.5 or higher. The user should know that no handheld monitor connector is available on the module, but a handheld monitor can interconnect with the controller.
