The GE Fanuc IC694ALG391 is a two channel analog current output module. Each of the two channels is capable of converting 12 bits of binary data for field devices. Additionally, each output can be set up using a jumper to construct varying signals, 0 to 20 mA or 4 to 20 mA. Each output can be set as a less exact voltage source, and the range is made with a jumper or resistor on the terminals as decided by the user.
Though an external source of isolated +24 VDC is vital for power for the module, it can be linked via the TB1 connector on the backside or directly to the terminal block. Both are effective methods for this model. However, if the user needs to preserve hold last state operation during a loss of backplane power, then an outside source is needed. An update rate of 5 milliseconds on both channels is application dependent but available.
When installing the GE Fanuc IC694ALG391, a good grade of twisted, shielded instrumentation cable should be used to lessen noise and capacitive loading. Each channel’s range is set with jumpers on the module terminals, and for voltage operation, a 250 Ohm resistor can be used in place of a voltage jumper if desired. Note: If the output default jumper is installed on module terminals 11 and 13, then both outputs will default, using the low end of their range. If the output jumper is not installed, both outputs will hold the last valid output value that was acknowledged. However, this route requires an external +24 VDC power supply.
