IC694ALG233 is a PACSystems RX3i Analog Current Input Module with 16 single-ended input channels. Each input is configurable using configuration software for three input ranges: 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 20 mA, and 4 to 20 mA Enhanced.
High and low alarm limits are offered on the three ranges. For the 4 to 20 mA Enhanced range, a low alarm limit can be initiated to detect input current from 4 mA to 0 mA; this provides open-wire fault detection in 4 to 20 mA Enhanced applications. Additionally, IC694ALG233 reports module status and status of the external power supply to the CPU via its assigned program reference addresses. IC694ALG233 must be installed in an I/O slot with a serial connector in an RX3i system.
The IC694ALG233 module is software-configurable, and there are no module jumpers to set. Open-circuit detection for all inputs is available in 4 to 20 mA Enhanced Range. Configurable scaling and offsets and fault reporting are other useful features. The module supports diagnostic point fault contacts in the logic program and supports upgrades for firmware. Positive and negative rate of change alarms as well as module serial number/revision/date code display are included. The module also supports hot insertion/removal.
Module status is easily determined by emitting LEDs as follows. ON means OK, and the module is correctly configured. OFF equates to no backplane power, or it’s possible that the software not running. If the LED emits continuous fast blinking, configuration data issues are present. Slow blinking followed by OFF indicates a failed power-up diagnostics issue or a code execution error has been encountered. The USER SUPPLY LED determines that the external 24 VDC supply is appropriate.
